”I started working with Emily in December 2024. The experience has greatly improved my physical and mental wellbeing. Emily's true passion is in helping people to meet their goals for health and fitness. The process started with an in-depth zoom meeting during which Emily listened to and validated my goals. She then went to work to design a custom plan that addressed my need to build strength, flexibility and endurance. Each month, I appreciated the progressive nature of the strength workouts she had designed for me. They challenged me to take risks and to trust the process. Simultaneously, we were also building the mental resilience that I would need to meet my goal.
If things got too challenging, Emily was receptive to my feedback, modifying plans to build my confidence or accommodate scheduling issues. If I missed a day or two, she would send a gentle check-in to make sure I was okay. It felt comforting and empowering to have someone else to lean on to help me stay accountable. She also helped me to learn to give myself grace and compassion when I had a bad week.
My goal was to run the Vermont City Marathon in May 2025. I had tried for a marathon two years ago on my own, but hip pain upended my training. I wasn't sure that I'd ever run a marathon again. I'm proud to say that not only did I finish the 2025 VCM (my fourth!), but I finished it about 10 minutes faster than I finished my last marathon, 17 years ago! Not only that, but my body actually felt good after this one!
Since the marathon, I am grateful that I am still working with Emily. I feel like she's helped me get my body back. I feel strong and am proud that I can do the same kinds of things I used to do in my 20s.
